Girls' and women's football
There continues to be a massive upsurge in the popularity of women's football around the country, but Didcot does not have its own dedicated girls' and women's teams at present. Didcot Casuals is aiming to change this and has embarked on a project to set up teams for girls and women to play the game locally.
December update: this project has been awarded a grant from the Berks & Bucks FA under the 3Lions FC banner.

Project summary
We are contacting local primary schools to set up taster sessions for girls in Years 5 and 6. followed by combined training sessions for those who wish to take this further. We will then look to enter a few local tournaments in the summer and then register a team or teams in the Oxford Girls League for the 2007/08 season.
The first session was held at Stephen Freeman Primary School on 10 November and was well attended by over 30 girls. We are very grateful for the assistance of Carolyn Hanwell at SF for helping us to arrange this session and to the girls who attended.
Further sessions are now being organised with the other primary schools in the area. As dates are agreed, we will post them on this website. Gradually we will add teams at further age levels including at least one women's team.
We are also looking for parents, ex-players and teachers would be willing to join us as coaches and managers. Full support will be given and FA coach training will be arranged.
If you are interested in joining us a a player, a coach or just as a helper, please get in touch.
