North Berks season gets underway
The First and the Reserves were in action today as the North Berks Footbal League season started. The Firsts travelled to strong rivals Faringdon Town who finished just one place behind them last season. Final score 3 - 1 to Casuals to get us off to a great start. The Reserves had a slight more comfortable start with a game away at Coleshill United Res, running out 7 - 1 winners. More soon...

Facebook: child protection update
Following the press release from Facebook today, we are showing our support for this initiative. The following comes from Facebook themselves - please take the time to read if you use Facebook:
Every young person on Facebook needs the ClickCEOP app – this is why
If you work with teenagers, then you’ll know most of them will be using Facebook. You might even be using it yourself... if so, you will want to know about a new, free application in Facebook that is designed to keep young people safe while they are having fun networking online.
ClickCEOP is a new ‘app’ launched today (Monday 12 July) which links the young user directly from their Facebook profile to help, advice and reporting facilities of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre – the police agency set up to tackle child abuse.
By adding the app, young people and parents can get support from CEOP on a range of issues – viruses, hacking, dealing with bullying online and they can report someone who is acting inappropriately towards them online.
If you have a Facebook profile, app and bookmark the app. If children in your care are on Facebook, get them to search ‘ClickCEOP’ in Facebook and give them to chance to be one click away from help – if they should ever need it.

Firsts clinch Div 1 Runners-up spot
Today the First team clinched the Runners-up spot in their first season back in Division 1 when Saxton Rovers (Division 1 Champions) beat Faringdon Town 2 -1 at Town. With a strong finish to the end of the season with two wins over both Drayton and AFC Wallingford and a draw against Faringdon Town, Wayne, Adam and the lads grabbed second spot and then had a nervous wait for Faringdon's two final games. In the event, Faringdon were held to a draw by Wallingford earlier in the week and today they lost narrowly to Saxton, giving our boys their highest ever finish to a season. This caps yet another fantastic season for the club - congrats to everyone involved with the First team. More soon...

Girls teams at Finals Day
Saturday 8 May was Cup Final Day at Oxford City FC for the Girls League. The club was well represented again, this time by the U11 and U12 teams. First up was the U11 girls in a tense game against Swindon Spitfires, who had won the league the week before. With the teams locked at 2-2 after extra time, Didcot won 2-0 on penalties to lift the Cup [see team page for photo and match report]. The U12 girls then played Swindon Spitfires in their final. What followed was one of the best games seen all season with both sides working hard all over the pitch. This game was also locked all square (1-1) after after time. This time Swindon came out on top to lift the cup but our girls can be proud of their fantastic performance. The U13 girls team also attended the day, supporting our other teams and to collect their well deserved runners-up trophies for an excellent season in the U13 B League.

Reserves clinch Nairne Paul Trophy
The Reserves bagged their second piece of silverware in as many seasons on 1 May between title holders Shrivenham 'A' 2-0 at Abingdon United FC. Ben Higgins scored Didcot's first goal, with the second coming courtesy of an own goal from the Shrivenham captain. Congratulations to all the Reserves on this magnificant achievement [see team page for photo and match report]

U9s clinch runners-up spot
It has been a long season, especially with all the winter postponements, but this morning (1st May), the U9s played their final game of the season away at Didcot Town Youth B, knowing a win would give them runners-up spot. With just a bare seven available, the game was hard fought against the team just below them in the league. However, the boys toughed it out and came away with a 2-1 win to take them above Oxford Irish into second place.

PARKING (SATURDAY/SUNDAY MORNINGS, BRASENOSE RD)
We have now been able to arrange suitable parking arrangements for the club on Saturday and Sunday mornings, which will help to cut the congestion being experienced down Brasenose Road. All home parents, including Rising Stars, should now park in the car park at Didcot Girls School entered via the Manor Crescent entrance. Please remember to display your parking permit on your dashboard. We are very grateful to Didcot Girls School for the use of their car park.
Team managers and coaches should park at Brasenose in the small car park next to the pavilion. No-one should park down Brasenose Road anymore.
